About ‘copywriter me’

I ‘fell into’ being an advertising copywriter in the Midlands in 1985. In the past 25 years or so, I’ve helped organisations achieve more business, worked on everything from tv and radio to websites and posters, written stuff that's won awards and generally loved my trade as a copywriter.
But somewhere there was a teacher in me who wanted to do more with the extensive knowledge I’d built up – which is why I’ve introduced The Copywriting Coach to run alongside my freelance copywriter services – please see Inspiring Words.
The Copywriting Coach services are designed to empower people to write for and in their business. Words are my passion and I’d be delighted to have the opportunity to help you make more of them.
A qualified coach too
The coaching part isn’t just some trendy word I’ve tacked on the end. I trained with Europe’s leading coach training organisation and qualified with distinction. I did it as a hobby, but fell in love with its possibilities for effectiveness. I’ve helped people change their lives through the life coaching I’ve provided. And I believe it adds to my ability to offer you flexible copywriting support that can respond to what you need.
I’ve run copywriting training courses for:
Nokia (in Finland)
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (Munich)
The National Maritime Museum
Birmingham City Council
Business Link
Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority
Shearings Holidays
People Tree
Midland Co-operative Society
Solaglass
The University of Glamorgan
The University of Leicester
Gems TV
SBD
..and more, as well as open courses for delegates from as far away as Devon, South Wales and Tyneside.
I’ve written copy for (which may have been through an advertising/design/marketing agency):
The AA
British Midland
Tarmac
Tilda Rice
Jacuzzi
Boots Opticians
Center Parcs
Bryant & May
The National Trust
The National Forest
Portakabin
…plus many, many more private and public sector organisations including a number of councils and colleges/universities
I’ve worked as a copywriter on:
- A mailing that generated nearly £14 million of business.
- A campaign that achieved some of the lowest cost-per-response figures at the time in its industry.
- A campaign that was a finalist in the IPA Business Advertising Awards – Business Direct Marketing Campaign of the Year.
- An ad that was commended in national awards for recruitment advertising.
- A campaign that won an FE First Marketing Award.
- An award-winning campaign in the Financial Adviser Sales Awards 2005 for the best trade recruitment adverts.
My aim is to enjoy working with my clients in an atmosphere of mutual respect and to create win:win relationships. If that sounds like the way you like to do business too, please talk to me about how flexible copywriting support can work for you.
